ORLANDO, FL -- (Marketwire) -- 04/08/09 -- Storage Networking World (SNW) today announced that end-user attendance at its Spring 2009 conference, taking place at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida, is comparable to its Spring and Fall 2008 events that took place prior to the macroeconomic crisis in late 2008. SNW is co-owned by Computerworld and the Storage Networking Industry Association.
"Despite restrictions on corporate travel budgets, the storage user community wants and needs to learn about the latest trends, technologies and new product offerings," said Derek Hulitzky, Vice President, Event Marketing and Conference Programs at Computerworld. "When the financial crisis emerged last fall, SNW, Computerworld and the SNIA had already taken measures to make sure users were well informed to come to SNW."
KEY FACTS:
-- With one full day remaining at SNW Spring 2009, user attendance at SNW
Spring 2009 is 93% of final user attendance at SNW Fall 2008.
-- The geographic audience mix of users attending SNW Spring 2009 has
shifted from SNW Spring 2008 and SNW Fall 2008. While the volume and
storage responsibility of user representation has remained consistent with
SNW's 2008 conferences, a higher representation of users from Central
Florida are at SNW Spring 2009. Despite that adjustment, a considerable
number of users are attending SNW Spring from across the country and
internationally.
-- Corporate travel restrictions have affected IT vendor companies
attending SNW. While a volume of sponsoring companies are represented at
SNW Spring 2009, the world's largest storage networking event, those
companies have sent fewer representatives per sponsoring company.
-- Attendees at SNW Spring 2009 are taking advantage of consistently
popular educational tracks and more than 150 sessions, including 3 new and
well-attended Summits at SNW covering Cloud Computing, Virtualization and
Solid State Storage.
SNW Fall 2009 will take place October 12-15, 2009, at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort in Phoenix, Arizona. Submissions to the call for presentations can be made at www.snwusa.com
