LOS ANGELES, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- peer squared (peer2), a peer-endorsed online marketing platform that rewards consumers for promoting the brands and products they love across the Internet, announced today that it has officially launched in beta. Miss Sixty, Energie, Ducati, SuperFoodsRx and Brave Soldier are among the brands launching branded content via peer2 (www.peer2.com) during its beta release. In conjunction with these brands, consumers will have more than 50 ways to earn rewards across 20 of the most-popular and active social media sites, allowing them to become marketers by giving them the power to generate brand impressions and promote branded content while being rewarded.
With businesses and brands allocating more resources to the Web, online advertising has become an increasingly essential component of any marketing campaign. However, according to ADTECH, of the billions spent by ad marketers, the average click-through rate for online ads is only around 0.18 percent. According to Facebook, however, its users spend more than 8 billion minutes a day sharing more than 140 million pieces of content. Recognizing these two opposing realities, peer2 created an opportunity for consumers to be rewarded for doing something they are already doing: sharing what they like or find interesting via social media networks. The result is a new form of online marketing called "social branding."
"Social media has given consumers a powerful voice that is still largely under utilized by traditional online marketing strategies," says Joey Caroni, co-founder of peer2. "Our unique online platform makes consumers active participants and engages them directly in relationships with advertisers while rewarding them for their endorsements."
The peer2 platform makes it easy for peer2 members to organically and authentically insert branded content directly into their personal accounts on sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, Stumble Upon and more. Consumers can share content through status updates, embed it in their profiles, or send to friends through e-mail or instant messaging. When individuals within the member's personal network click on the branded content, the peer2 member earns points, which can be redeemed for products through peer2 fulfilled by Amazon Services. Membership is free and the platform will never require purchase to earn reward points.
At launch, peer2 members will be able to share unique content from designer fashion label, Miss Sixty, and its men's brand, Energie; Italian motorcycle brand, Ducati; Brave Soldier Athletic Skin Care; and SuperFoodsRx nutritional products. The options for members will continue to grow as new brands and content continue to be added regularly. Contrary to banner ads, which are confined to specific site specifications, there are no constrictions or limitations on a brand's ability to create innovative content on the peer2 platform, or on how a consumer can interact with it.
"At peer2 we recognize the power and importance of peer recommendations. Our platform aims to take consumers, regardless of whether they are active or passive, and transform them into highly motivated brand ambassadors, sharing content with a very receptive community: their peers," Caroni added.
