MORRISTOWN, N.J. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Verizon Wireless Executive Director for State Public Policy, Daniel Mullin, said the company supports action taken by the state of Rhode Island to ban texting and e-mailing while driving.
Mullin made the following statement today:
“Verizon Wireless commends Governor Carcieri and the Rhode Island General Assembly for making it against the law to text and drive. With the issue of texting and driving on the minds of many Americans lately, we appreciate the support of Senator Susan Sosnowski and Representative Peter Kilmartin and the rest of Rhode Island Legislature on this issue and their efforts in addressing it during the special legislative session. Additionally we endorse the legislation that Governor Carcieri signed into law today making Rhode Island the most recent state to ban texting while driving. As the largest wireless service provider, we recently launched a national advertising campaign to bring forth this same message. Drivers must stay focused on the road ahead to ensure safety for others and themselves.”
