RICHARDSON, Texas -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Taqua®, LLC, a leading supplier of next-generation switching systems and applications, today announced two additional rural local exchange carriers have chosen the Taqua 7000 Switching System for their next-generation switching.

Danville Telephone Company and Sodtown Telephone Company are two of the latest rural, local telephone companies that have chosen Taqua to replace their existing Class 5 switching systems. “Each card in the Taqua 7000 Switching System (T7000) is a full featured Class 5 next generation switch capable of providing TDM and IP telephony services,” explained Scott Weidenfeller, Taqua LLC’s chief marketing officer. “This unique ‘switch on the card’ architecture allows rural or smaller North American telephone companies to cost effectively deliver the same state of the art switching services utilized by some of the largest telephone companies in North America.”

Sodtown Telephone Exchange, with its roots dating back to the early 1900s, serves the farming community in the Northeast corner of Buffalo County, Nebraska. Sodtown is deploying the Taqua 7000 Switching System and TaquaMail voice mail system. “We wanted a next-generation switching system and voice mail platform that provided advanced features and functionality but was also cost effective for us to deploy given the size of our community,” said Mike Plautz, Secretary at Sodtown Telephone. “We chose the T7000 and TaquaMail because it fit our requirements perfectly and Taqua has a strong reputation with similar-sized local exchange carriers in Nebraska and Iowa.”

Danville Telephone Company is a small independent telephone company in Southeastern Iowa that provides local and long distance services, broadband and dial-up internet, and wireless services. Danville’s Class 5 replacement requirements included cost, but also included service flexibility. “Obviously it was important for us to choose a system that was appropriately priced for our size, but the system’s cost couldn’t come at the expense of service flexibility,” said Lennis Kelley, general manager at Danville Telephone. “We provide a variety services to our subscriber base and are always looking at providing bundles of different advanced services.”
