The Utah Technology Council (UTC) (www.utahtechcouncil.org)
recently announced new members to its Board
of Trustees.
“Each year we strive to bolster our Board with trustees who possess vast
experience and knowledge in the technology arena,” said
Richard R. Nelson, President and CEO of the UTC. “This year is no
exception. Each of these leaders brings a unique background and
expertise to UTC. Their innovative spirit will help us forge tremendous
technology inroads in 2010 and beyond.”
The new trustees include:

David
Bradford (photo)
– Bradford is currently the CEO of Fusion-io.
Previously he was with Novell, Inc., where he served as Senior
Vice-President and General Counsel. He was instrumental in taking the
company from a small start-up to a multi-billion dollar corporation.
He has also served as chairman of the Business Software Alliance, the
world’s leading trade association for business software companies.
Bradford was also approved as a member of UTC’s Executive Committee.

Gary
Crocker (photo)
– Crocker is chairman of Merrimack Pharmaceuticals
and the founder of Crocker Ventures, LLC in Salt Lake
City. He has helped found several companies in the biotechnology
industry including Research Medical, Inc., where he also served as
CEO, and Theratech, Inc., both located in Salt Lake City. In 2003
Crocker Ventures invested in the Boston-based biotech firm, Merrimack
Pharmaceuticals, one of the nation’s largest biotech companies.
Crocker was also approved as a member of UTC’s Executive Committee.

Matthew
S. Holland (photo)
– Holland is currently serving as the sixth President of Utah
Valley University (UVU). Holland possesses vast experience in
the higher education field. Prior to UVU, he served as chief of staff
for the top executive of the international consulting firm Monitor
Group and, later, as special assistant to then-Utah Governor Michael
O. Leavitt. He graduated from Brigham Young University (BYU) with
honors and was valedictorian for the political science department in
1991.

Michael
Keene (photo)
– Keene is currently the Director of Westminster
College’s Technology Management MBA Program. The program is
specifically designed to prepare roughly 25 engineers and scientists
per year to become successful entrepreneurs and/or leaders of firms
commercializing innovative products. He was formerly the State Science
Advisor for the State of Utah and the Vice President for Technology &
Business Development for Ceramatec, Inc.

Monty
Reagan (photo)
– Reagan is currently the Regional VP of Sales at ViaWest,
Inc. where he oversees the company’s Utah and Oregon markets.
He possesses 25 years of technology experience in telecommunication,
software/hardware sales and managed service companies. Reagan is an
avid mountain climber and outdoor enthusiast. He has also spent
countless volunteer hours with Habitat for Humanity.

Larry
Richards (photo)
– Richards is currently the president of LDS Business College.
His leadership abilities have enabled him to become president of four
banks: MountainWest Savings, Olympus Bank, Advanta Bank and
YourBank.com. Richards is also the sole proprietor of the JL Resource
Group, which provides consulting services for the establishment of
industrial bank charters in the state of Utah.

Timothy
Sullivan (photo)
– Sullivan is currently the CEO at Ancestry.com and
has served in this capacity since 2005. Prior to this he served as CEO
at Match.com. Sullivan has also held multiple positions at The Walt
Disney Company, including Vice President and Managing Director of
Buena Vista Home Entertainment Asia Pacific. He holds an M.B.A. from
Harvard Business School and was a Morehead Scholar at the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

R. Thompson (photo)
– Thompson is currently a partner at the law firm of Stoel
Rives, LLP. He focuses his practice on electrical, computer
and software patent preparation and prosecution in the United States
and in foreign countries. He is also a member of the Intellectual
Property Section of the Utah State Bar and the American Intellectual
Property Law Association.

Matthew
G. Wells (photo)
– Wells is currently a partner at the law firm of Holland &
Hart. Since joining Wilson Sonsini in 2000, he has represented
public and private technology companies in more than 100 venture
capital and M&A transactions. Wells has helped a plethora of
entrepreneurs grow technology companies and mature enterprises along
with the investors that finance them. Prior to pursuing a career in
law, he served as a management consultant for International Technology
& Trade Associates, Inc. in Washington, D.C.

Todd
Wolfenbarger (photo)
– Wolfenbarger is currently the President at The Summit
Group (TSG). Prior to joining TSG, he has held positions in
marketing, public affairs, government relations, community relations,
communications, advertising, public relations, media relations, speech
writing and analyst relations. He has served in senior management
positions with AT&T, McCaw Cellular and XO Communications.
In addition to the new trustees and Executive Committee appointees, UTC
has approved current trustee Jeff Nelson, CEO of Nelson Labs, to serve
on its Executive Committee.
