Linspire, Inc. today announced the official completion of its global name change from Lindows, Inc. to Linspire, Inc. Linspire has ceased to use the term Lindows in any of its current marketing collateral, web site or retail packaging.

The name change is a direct result of the recent worldwide settlement between Linspire, Inc. and Microsoft Corporation in the trademark infringement cases between the two companies. The settlement agreement resolved all claims in the litigation, both in the United States and internationally. Terms of the settlement are confidential.

Linspire has made a full transition over to the distinct Linspire company and brand name. All visitors to Lindows.com are now automatically re-directed to Linspire.com. Linspire-branded retail products are becoming available in the channel. Resellers are encouraged to immediately begin using the new Linspire name and logos in all advertisements, promotions and packaging. New logo artwork may be found in the Reseller resource area on www.linspire.com/reseller.

System builders can also use newly branded versions of the firm's operating system when pre-installing on computers. Functionality has not changed in the software, which is available in English and Spanish directly from Linspire. Those builders interested in pre-installing the Italian version of Linspire should visit www.linspire.com/italiano.
