SAN DIEGO--- Cyntellect Announces Appointment of Tina S. Nova, Ph.D. to the Company's Board of Directors

Cyntellect, Inc., a privately-held biotechnology company, today announced the appointment of Tina S. Nova to the Company's Board of Directors. Dr. Nova brings extensive knowledge and experience in operational development of biotechnology companies, as well as strategic planning and executive management.

Tina S. Nova, Ph.D. is the president, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Genoptix. She also co-founded Nanogen, where she served as Chief Operating Officer and President from 1994 to 2000, and Selective Genetics, where she served as Chief Operating Officer from 1992-1994. From 1988 to 1992, Dr. Nova held various director-level positions with Ligand Pharmaceuticals, most recently serving as Executive Director of New Leads Discovery. Dr. Nova also held various research and management positions with Hybritech, a former subsidiary of Eli Lilly. Dr. Nova received her Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of California, Riverside, and conducted post-doctoral research at NYU Medical School.

In December 2004, Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante appointed Dr. Nova to be the life science representative to the Independent Citizen's Oversight Committee for the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (ICOC). The ICOC will oversee the administration of three billion dollars in funding emerging from the passage of California's Proposition 71 aimed at supporting stem cell research.
