HOUSTON -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- As most of us busy ourselves with planning and shopping for our friends and family, thousands of children across the Houston area may have to go without gifts this holiday season.
T-Mobile USA is pleased to announce that it will again serve as a toy drop-off location for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program in 2011. T-Mobile retail stores across Houston invite everyone to bring a new, unwrapped toy to support the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, bringing hope to a child in the area.
“The Toys for Tots program has always been an important part of the holiday season for us at T-Mobile as well as with my own family,” said Scott Tollett, vice president and general manager, T-Mobile USA, South Texas. “This is actually our second year serving as a drop-off location for the Toys for Tots program, and thanks to the generosity of our fellow Houstonians, the Toys for Tots program has provided children across the country with a true holiday miracle.”
Since its inception in 1947, the Marine Toys for Tots program has provided needy children across the country with the opportunity to have a happy holiday. Each year, U.S. Marines work with their local communities to make sure that needy children receive toys when the holiday season comes around. Since the start of the Toys for Tots program, they have been able to provide over 400 million toys to 180 million children, and that number keeps growing each year as the word spreads.
“Here in Houston, we have been overwhelmed with everyone’s generosity and support of this important program,” said Sgt. Sojos Jaime, Toys for Tots coordinator in Houston. “We currently have close to 400 sites throughout the city that are collecting toys, and each day that number is growing. Our ultimate goal for Houston is to collect 30,000 toys, but my personal goal as the Toys for Tots coordinator is to collect more than 100,000 toys in an effort to serve and help as many children as possible.”
All Houstonians interested in donating to this important cause are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy to any T-Mobile retail location in the Houston metroplex. A full list of T-Mobile locations can be found online at www.t-mobile.com.
“It’s through the support of companies like T-Mobile that we are well on our way to our goal of 100,000 toys, allowing us to service as many of the children of Houston as possible. I truly appreciate everyone’s continued support, and I hope that the 2011 Toys for Tots campaign will be our best one since the founding of Toys for Tots 64 years ago,” said Sgt. Jaime.
