Entropic Communications, Inc., a company enabling home networking for digital entertainment, has won the San Diego Council AeA 2005 High Tech award for the semiconductor category.

Finalists for the prestigious award in the chip category included three other fine local companies, CommASIC, Elgar Electronics and Palomar Technologies, Inc.

"I accept this award on behalf of everyone at Entropic who have devoted their time and energy to making this company successful and a great place to work," said Patrick Henry, President and CEO upon receiving the prestigious award. "This is particularly satisfying as many of our customers are launching products using our chipset, validating the market for digital home networking over coax cable."

Numerous products based on Entropic's c.LINK-270 chipset will be on display at next month's TelcoTV, November 9-11 at the San Diego Convention Center, and at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, January 5, 2006.

Entropic's c.LINK-270 chipset, when built into a variety of consumer electronics such as set-top boxes, digital video recorders, and televisions, permits seamless networking over the existing coaxial cable infrastructure at speeds as high as 270Mbps. The high speed and reliability of coax make it the ideal medium for networking high-bandwidth applications such as video.

Entropic is a founding member of the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA(TM)), formed to standardize technologies for linking consumer entertainment devices over existing coax cabling. Other members include Cisco Systems, Comcast, Cox, EchoStar, Matsushita Electric (Panasonic), Motorola, RadioShack Corporation, Toshiba and Verizon. For more information: www.mocalliance.com.
