PORTLAND, OR -- (Marketwire) -- 12/14/11 -- With compliance and security of utmost urgency, banks are seeking ways to gain visibility over IT infrastructure that will enable them to protect and manage data while meeting Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) regulations. Today, Tripwire, a leading global provider of IT security and compliance automation solutions, announced that Community Bank, a state-charted, 11-branch financial institution based in southwestern Pennsylvania, has adopted Tripwire VIA as a comprehensive solution for advanced change and configuration management, file integrity monitoring, log management and continuous compliance.
Community Bank first sought a log monitoring tool that would help them compile and automate large amounts of data. However, compliance regulators suggested a more robust solution, one that provided change and configuration management capabilities that would also help streamline the compliance process and harden security. That's when Community Bank turned to Tripwire VIA, a suite of tools that includes Tripwire® Enterprise and Tripwire Log Center®. It was deployed on 30 servers plus firewalls and network devices.
"Previously, we could view our sys logs, but there was so much data it was difficult to find something meaningful, such as a change to a critical file," said Korey Kottke, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Community Bank. "With Tripwire solutions, we get a daily report of suspect changes on the servers, firewalls and networks, which helps us quickly pinpoint issues."
Tripwire Enterprise is the only solution that provides a single source for detecting, analyzing and reporting all change across the entire IT infrastructure. Users specify how frequently to monitor for change, and can even check for change on an event-driven basis. Tripwire Enterprise comes with policy templates that assess relevant configurations across physical and virtual infrastructure, alerting administrators to settings that are out of line with compliance requirements.
Tripwire Log Center allows organizations to respond to IT security threats in real time and prove compliance with security standards. It detects suspicious activity and stores the raw log data that is required for compliance audits. When used as part of the Tripwire VIA platform, Tripwire Log Center ties together key security data to take control of IT security and compliance.
"Comparing the options, we focused not just on price, but on how much a solution would do for us," said Marlene Walker, Senior Vice president of Operations for Community Bank. "Our cost benefit analysis put Tripwire on top, and our experience using it has proven Tripwire to be the right choice."
