DefenseWeb Technologies, Inc., a premier custom software developer and systems integrator serving Department of Defense (DoD) organizations, announced today that it has been awarded a contract to enhance the Web-based system for Air Force's Transition Assistance Program (TAP).

DefenseWeb will modify its existing Family Integrated Results Statistical Tracking (FIRST) system and will update the existing Transition Assistance module to include additional functionality and new Department of Defense requirements for the Air Force's Transition Assistance Program. DefenseWeb will work closely with the Air Force Sustainment Division to design and develop the new customized features and functionality within the FIRST system to help TAP staff provide a consistent level of service for all members of the Air Force, active and reserve, as they transition to the private sector.

"DefenseWeb has been proudly serving the Department of the Air Force for over seven years, building and maintaining systems in support of family advocacy and quality of life issues," said DefenseWeb CEO Douglas W. Burke. "Because of the flexibility and modularization built into our systems, we are able to quickly and efficiently customize existing applications to meet the changing needs of Department of Defense organizations. We are proud to leverage the success of the FIRST system to help deliver critical services to Air Force personnel who are transitioning to the private sector."

System enhancements will include new, customized transition checklists for the Reserve and an updated active duty checklist; creation of robust, customizable reports based on Air Force-wide utilization of options provided within the checklist; the addition of a customizable pre-separation counseling checklist to help determine variables that might have had an impact on service member's separation from service; and development of a new system to allow the transfer of an entire record to the Disability Evaluation System (DES) in the correct format, based on data entered into the checklist.

In addition to the FIRST application, DefenseWeb has developed and maintained a number of online systems for the Air Force Family Advocacy Program (AFFAP) and Air Force Family Matters (AFFM) Program Office, including:

-- The Family Advocacy System of Records (FASOR), which provides a central tracking system for maltreatment incidents on 79 Air Force bases worldwide.

-- FAPNet, an online system for the Air Force Family Advocacy Program (FAP), which provides mission-critical family services to Air Force families.

-- The Special Needs/QBASE Web System, which assists in the tracking of Air Force families with special needs.

-- The Integrated Delivery System (IDS) Meeting Management System, which provides CAIB and IDS members with a system for managing and storing meeting minutes and agendas.
