CLEVELAND -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Keithley Instruments, Inc., a world leader in advanced electrical test instruments and systems, announced today that the editors of Electronic Design magazine have named the company’s Model 4225-PMU Ultra-Fast I-V Module option for the Model 4200-SCS parameter analyzer as one of three “Best Electronic Design” winners for 2011 in the test and measurement category.
In an article in the magazine’s annual “Best Electronic Design” issue titled “Scopes and Arbs Rule the Roost in Test for 2011,” editor David Maliniak praised the Model 4225-PMU’s design, writing that it “exemplifies elegance in modular format.” He went on to note, “The beauty of modular instruments is their ability to be upgraded, expanded, or otherwise improved upon without having to invest in a completely new instrument. Keithley’s Model 4200-SCS semiconductor characterization system is just such an animal. The latest addition to the analyzer is the Model 4225-PMU, an ultra-fast current-voltage (I-V) module that adds ultra-fast voltage waveform generation and current/voltage measurement capabilities to the 4200-SCS’s arsenal.”
The magazine’s “Best Electronic Design” awards are segmented into editorial “beats” as well as vertical markets. The editors for each beat are free to choose what they consider to be the best in each area. Winners receive a “Best Electronic Design” logo, which they can post on their own website.
Earlier this year, the Model 4225-PMU also earned Keithley its twenty-second R&D 100 Award from the editors of R&D magazine. That award is presented annually to the developers of the 100 most significant technology innovations worldwide.
The Model 4225-PMU is the latest addition to the growing range of instrumentation options for Keithley’s Model 4200-SCS Semiconductor Characterization System. It integrates ultra-fast voltage waveform generation and current/voltage measurement capabilities into the Model 4200-SCS's already powerful test environment to deliver the industry's broadest dynamic range of voltage, current, and rise/fall/pulse times, expanding the system's materials, device, and process characterization potential dramatically. Just as important, the Model 4225-PMU makes ultra-fast I-V sourcing and measurement as easy as making DC measurements. Its wide programmable sourcing and measurement ranges, pulse widths, and rise times make it well-suited for applications that demand both ultra-fast voltage outputs and synchronized measurement--from nanometer CMOS to flash memory. Unlike previous solutions, which required up to three different test stands to characterize a device, material, or process thoroughly, the Model 4225-PMU's broad dynamic range allows characterizing the full range of materials, devices, and processes with a single set of instrumentation.
