SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- RSA® Conference, the world’s leading information security conferences and expositions, today announced that FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III will keynote RSA Conference 2012 in San Francisco on Thursday, March 1. Director Mueller will address the information security audience with his presentation “Combating Threats in the Cyber World: Outsmarting Terrorists, Hackers and Spies.”

Mueller is the sixth Director of the FBI and was sworn in as Director on September 4, 2001. His ten-year term as Director was recently extended for an additional two years. At RSA Conference 2012 Director Mueller will discuss the top cyber threats to the nation’s security and economic prosperity, what the FBI is doing to combat those threats and why it is imperative that law enforcement and the private sector work together to protect the safety and security of U.S. citizens. Audiences will learn from Director Mueller that without strong public-private partnerships and without a strong, active approach to preventing such threats, hackers and spies will continue to exploit vulnerabilities and terrorists will continue to use the Internet to nefarious ends.

RSA Conference also welcomes David Brooks, noted Op-Ed columnist for The New York Times, to its 2012 keynote line-up. Brooks, a savvy analyst of present-day politics and foreign affairs, will discuss during his keynote session his findings from four years of research for his latest book The Social Animal, a landmark sociological explanation of how we make decisions, how the subconscious mind drives our lives and why some succeed and others don’t.

Also taking the stage at RSA Conference 2012 will be Sal Khan of the Khan Academy. Khan started the Khan Academy with a simple but innovative idea: to provide world-class education to anyone, anywhere. However, building the Academy provided one particular set of challenges, keeping a focus on disruptively innovating the way we learn brings a whole new set of obstacles. During his keynote “Focus on Innovation: Putting Breakthrough Thinking into Action,” Khan will share with his audience the keys that leaders must keep in mind when managing innovation.

“These three keynotes represent the heart of what RSA Conference strives to stand for: bringing together the brightest minds of the government, business, journalism and educational communities,” said Sandra Toms LaPedis, AVP/GM RSA Conference. “Such top-level speakers continue to raise RSA Conference above other technology conferences and expos to be the place to discuss all matters security.”

RSA Conference 2012 will also offer audiences its annual Cryptographers’ Panel keynote session featuring the founders and leaders of the field for an engaging discussion about the latest advances in cryptography, research areas to watch in 2012 and practical insights that continue to be drawn from lessons learned over the last three decades. This panel will include Dr. Ari Juels, Chief Scientist, RSA, The Security Division of EMC and Director, RSA Laboratories; Whitfield Diffie, Vice President for Information Security, ICANN and Chief Cryptographer, Revere Security; Ronald Rivest, Viterbi Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, MIT; Stefan Savage, Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, University of California, San Diego; and, Adi Shamir, Professor, Computer Science Department, Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel.
