SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Go Daddy, the world's largest provider of Web hosting, domain names and new SSL Certificates, helped more customers secure online data transactions than any other certificate authority last month, according to the latest Netcraft Secure Server Survey.
Go Daddy had the largest market growth in January, gaining more than 19,000 certificates overall. In addition, Go Daddy experienced the largest gains in the Extended Validation (EV) certificate market.
"Go Daddy's mission in the SSL industry is providing unparalleled value and customer service," said Go Daddy's Chief Technology Officer Wayne Thayer. "Each certificate authority gives customers the exact same product. In order to outgrow the competition, Go Daddy has focused on giving customers the highest level of support during the SSL approval process and streamlining certificate installation."
Go Daddy SSL certificates come with an unlimited server license as well as installation support from Go Daddy’s world-class customer care. Go Daddy also provides DNSSEC services with its Premium SSL certificates, adding additional security to an online presence. DNSSEC secures interactions between DNS servers by adding a digital signature to a domain name’s DNS.
Go Daddy first offered SSL certificates in 2003, and has since held a strong presence in the SSL industry. Go Daddy played an instrumental role in the drafting of EV SSL guidelines in 2007, and in 2011 became the second largest EV SSL certificate provider in the world. Go Daddy surpassed a half-million SSL certificates under management last July. In addition, Go Daddy recently worked with other industry leaders to draft the first international baseline standards for the operation of Certificate Authorities.
SSL certificates provide a secure method for transmitting data between an Internet browser and a website. This allows secure transactions to take place, whether through an online store, an email client or any other website. Go Daddy SSL Certificates indicate the connection is secure by displaying “https” in the URL bar and a padlock icon in the browser window. Extended Validation certificates provide an additional visual confirmation of security by displaying a green address bar in most browsers.
