SAN DIEGO -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- NANOG 54

Network automation pioneer 6connect, today announced Internet Protocol Address Manager (IPAM) version 3.2, a software upgrade that provides the ability to see the granular use of Internet Protocol v4 addresses (IPv4) and network data on a comprehensive visual dashboard. 6connect IPAM Module v3.2 is a component of the first network automation platform to help service providers get the most out of their v4 network, visualize their v6 needs and usher in a vast IPv6 environment.

6connect has been used in production environments ranging from Tier-1 service providers to large enterprises. The 6connect platform automates manual IPAM tasks to simplify operations, increase security and support network efficiency.

The new dashboard feature in IPAM v3.2 automatically calculates real-time data and graphically displays a portrait of the network. The dashboard shows IP address usage across the network, identifies mis-used or mis-allocated IPv4 addresses and available IPv4 space, and projects IPv6 needs.

"Due to the level of automation in our IPAM platform, our customers have been requesting more ways to interact and visualize complex data,” said Pete Sclafani, CIO of 6connect. “Our re-engineered dashboard and reporting functionality deliver even easier data management and analytics on your IP address data for both IPv4 and IPv6."

Delivering What Service Providers Need Today and Tomorrow:

6connect is the only network automation platform that natively supports IP Address Management for both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. The 6connect platform automates the management of complex IPv6 networks, simplifies short-term IPv4 management challenges, and supports long-term IPv6 operational goals.

"We wanted to be proactive about IPv6 and in order to do that, we knew that we had to upgrade off of our legacy IPv4 IPAM application,” said Alex Latzko, senior architect, Lightower Fiber Networks. “We looked at other vendors and their IPAM tools, but we didn't want to buy another appliance that we would need to maintain. 6connect's IP Address Manager 3.2 gave us the RIR interaction and visual dashboard we had been looking for as well as being much more IPv6-oriented than the other platforms we looked at."

6connect IPAM version 3.2 builds upon key features created specifically for the needs of service providers (ISPs) and delivered in late 2011.

  • the integration of the 6connect platform into the RIPE (Réseaux IP Européens) RESTful web services API- an industry first.
  • the introduction of a suite of new features in 6connect IPAM v3.0 that help service providers automate their networks as they transition from IPv4 to IPv6.
  • the first integration to American Registry for Internet Numbers’ (ARIN) RESTful Web Services API.

6connect is now the only company to have successfully integrated their product into any of the Regional Internet Registries (RIRs).
