CHICAGO -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Global Technologies, a major national construction and engineering contractor for telecommunications and utility operators, today announced it will hire between 220 and 250 fulltime employees in Orlando, Jacksonville, Tampa and Miami this year. The jobs, covering a variety of Telecommunications construction, Engineering, technical, management and support positions, will allow the company to complete construction and service contracts for several of its key corporate customers.
Global Technologies, based in Chicago, plans, builds, installs and maintains underground, above-ground and aerial communications network equipment and lines, cellular and microwave towers, AC/DC power systems and plant infrastructure. It has maintained a presence in Florida since January 2010 and has opened permanent service offices in Lakeland and Orlando, driven by ongoing relationships with customers including Nsoro MasTec, AT&T, Verizon Wireless and others. A third Florida service office in Jacksonville will open on February 15, 2012.
“Global Technologies continues to earn significant work in Florida. Our established relationships with Nsoro Mastec and AT&T, as well as other network and tower operators, give us the confidence to expand our Florida presence and workforce,” said Global Technologies President and Chief Executive Officer Joseph Mwachullah. “We’re pleased that our success allows us to make this major commitment to the Sunshine State.”
Currently Global Technologies employs approximately 400 workers nationally. The company has already hired more than 30 new personnel in Florida since January 1, 2012 to serve its initial needs in the construction trades across the state. More technical, project management, construction and support positions will be filled June 30 of this year. As the firm completes its scheduled projects for the year, it will also seek maintenance and support personnel to service its customers’ network infrastructure.
“While our need for skilled construction workers in Florida is immediate and project-based, we will train individuals where needed,” Mwachullah noted. “Also, these positions are not temporary. Our ongoing business in Florida will require long-term staffing. We intend to identify and hire quality workers who can serve the demanding requirements of our telecom and utility customers.”
