IRVINE--- Hideya Sakaida Appointed President and Chief Executive Officer for Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc.

Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC)*, a committed leader in electronic components that collaborates with companies to create breakthrough designs, today announced that Hideya Sakaida has been appointed president and chief executive officer of the company. In this role, Mr. Sakaida will oversee all administration, sales and marketing, and financial management activities for TAEC, an independent operating company owned by Toshiba America, Inc., a subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation, Japan's largest semiconductor manufacturer and the world's fourth largest(1) semiconductor manufacturer. TAEC provides a broad array of innovative electronic components to its customers throughout the Americas, enabling today's leading cell phones, MP3 players, cameras, portable electronics, automotive products and more.

Having served in executive roles in Toshiba electronics companies throughout the world, Mr. Sakaida brings extensive sales, marketing, strategic planning and managerial experience to his new position. He replaces Takeaki Fukuyama, who has returned to Japan to continue his tenure at Toshiba's headquarters in Tokyo.

Mr. Sakaida has been with Toshiba Corporation since 1978 and most recently served as managing director, Toshiba Electronics Asia (Singapore) Pte Ltd., where he managed operations of the Singapore headquarters and subsidiaries in Malaysia, Thailand, The Philippines and India, with responsibility for sales and marketing to customers throughout Asia and India. Previously, Mr. Sakaida held key positions in International Operations, Electronic Components, for Toshiba Corp., in which he was responsible for semiconductor sales to leading global manufacturers. He has also held many strategic planning and sales management positions through out his career with Toshiba, with responsibility at various times for memory Ics, batteries and displays. Mr. Sakaida earned an MBA from Northeastern University in Boston, and an undergraduate degree in economics from Keio University in Japan.
