EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Aura Systems, Inc. (OTCBB: AUSI) with great sadness announced today that Dr. Arthur Schwartz, a Board Member and the Company’s Chief Technical Officer, died on November 21, 2012 at the age of 65 after a short battle with cancer.
Dr. Schwartz had a PhD degree in Physics and was a cofounder of the Company. His contributions to the Company were very important to the development of the technologies and products commercialized by Aura over the past 25 years.
Dr. Wang has been appointed the new Chief Technical Officer for the Company. He has a PhD in Electrical Engineering with an expertise in induction machines. Dr. Wang worked closely with Dr. Schwartz for the last several years on many of the Auragen/VIPER projects. Recently, Dr. Wang developed and implemented both the AC and ICM control system for the Company’s all-electric transport refrigeration.
Mr. Zvi Kurtzman, another cofounder and former CEO, said, “Art and I worked closely at Aura for over 25 years and prior to that we worked together on numerous national defense programs at Hughes Aircraft and Science Application International ('SAIC'). He was one of the five people who started the Company and worked closely with our technical staff to develop Aura’s electromagnetic technologies. In addition to his technical expertise, Art was an integral part of all aspects of the Company. He was a constant inspiration and my best friend for over 30 years.”
