Since the company launched its beta product in August 2012, the site has expanded to more than 700 campuses and has added thousands of new students. Students primarily use Seelio to document their college experiences and professionally market themselves beyond the traditional stationary resume.
-- Thuan Doan, an engineering sophomore at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is using Seelio to show off his projects. "Seelio is the perfect platform for me to highlight and document my works," said Doan. Seelio also has been growing in popularity among faculty members at institutions such as University of Texas - Austin, University of Michigan, West Virginia University and University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA).
Catherine Gabster, a nursing faculty member at UCLA, is using Seelio to help students record their clinical accomplishments and personal interests throughout their program. "Seelio helps our students quickly develop online portfolios, which are necessary in light of healthcare's shift to online, reflecting not just a national, but global job market," Gabster said. "Seelio gives our students the right online exposure."
Students and faculty aren't the only group taking advantage of Seelio. Companies have been eagerly signing onto the site to post jobs and search for talent. In recent months, companies such as Box, Palantir, Rent the Runway, Yelp and Twitter have started using the platform to find interns and full time hires.
In the coming months, the Seelio team will continue to refine its product and build new features for students to find not only career opportunities, but inspiration from others.
