3D modeling also gives the company the ability to develop faster and more accurate field drawings and models for project management. “The 3D drawings and models, along with its animation capability, help everyone involved with a project share exactly the same vision of what the project work process will be in a step by step fashion,” Marrinucci said. “Customers can also see exactly what the proposed end product will be, and they have 3D files for use for future maintenance and engineering of their systems. These 3D models also become excellent training aids for any organization to keep their operations and maintenance personnel informed and knowledgeable.”

The three dimensional as built drawings then become a part of the plant’s permanent records. Future plans call for the use of 3D modeling to provide engineering solutions for heat transfer, fluid dynamics, ASME calculations and flame/burner modeling, Iannone noted.
