SAN DIEGO -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Z Microsystems, a leading provider of mission-ready computing systems, today announced that it is providing a customized Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) processing system to a global aircraft integrator. The system will be installed into aircraft to provide intelligence support for the end user. The total size of the multi-year order exceeded $6 million.
Under the agreement, Z Microsystems' ISR solution will provide an integrated system of hardware and software. The hardware, which is designed by Z Microsystems, uses the COMx MPU to host mission specific software, IDS displays for operator analysis, ZX3 Servers for video ingestion, and a new fiber optic transmission system to extend video, USB and audio to remote operators. The software is based on Z Microsystems ZViDEO capture software and integrates with partner technology to control an optical sensor with EO and IR video feeds. The software provides the capability to analyze, tag and distribute video in real-time.

The COMx MPU is a line of ultra-compact and lightweight computer processing units with flexible configuration options in durable sealed aluminum chassis. Based on a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) open architecture platform, the COMx MPU design offers seamless processor upgrades and long operational life in harsh environments. The conduction cooled sealed chassis can house up to seven fully independent hot swappable processing modules.
The Z Microsystems IDS displays for this application are designed and certified for an airborne environment, although they are also deployable on the ground or shipboard. With built-in real-time video enhancement (RTEV) capability, the displays permit the operators, at a push of a button on the display, to significantly improve the streaming video when the picture is degraded by environmental effects such as fog, sand, haze and battlefield smoke.
