BELLEVUE, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/04/13 -- Atigeo™, a compassionate technology company, today announced the addition of Richard B. "Rick" Toren to its advisory council. With more than 30 years of experience in founding and leading some of the industry's most innovative healthcare technology companies, Toren is uniquely positioned to help guide Atigeo in offering its customers unprecedented access to unlock the power of big data using its xPatterns™ platform in healthcare.

"Atigeo's goal is to provide technology to enable a wiser planet," said Michael Sandoval, CEO and founder. "For example, by empowering healthcare researchers and innovators to discover the next big breakthrough, we could be enabling potential life-saving discoveries. Rick has a similar mission, and throughout his long career, he has worked for the greater good. His addition is a significant milestone toward achieving our vision for xPatterns within healthcare: to leverage big data in ways that were previously unimaginable."

Toren has a long history of technological inventions that revolutionized healthcare. He invented and developed the EpiPen® to help his youngest daughter who suffered severe allergic reactions to bee stings. He also created a pain-free electrode for an EKG machine after his newborn children were placed in intensive care. He is considered an industry expert in healthcare administration and marketing, and most recently founded and served as the chairman and president of CodeRyte, Inc., now known as 3M(SM) CodeRyte(SM) CodeComplete(SM), a technology firm that has led the market in clinical billing code extraction.

"xPatterns Clinical Auto-Coding is going to revolutionize the way healthcare organizations code by utilizing the entire medical record to recoup appropriate revenue. Before xPatterns, this level of automation, accuracy and efficiency was just not possible," said Toren. "I'm looking forward to helping Michael and his team as they develop advancements regarding every aspect of healthcare."

Toren currently serves as a senior executive for QPID™, Inc., an intelligence system for EHRs -- permitting creation of clinician-directed queries, analytics and reporting abilities in real time. He joins Atigeo's healthcare board of advisors that includes Claude D. Benchimol, Ph.D., a former GE Healthcare executive, and Phillip M. Nudelman, Ph.D., former chairman and CEO of Kaiser Group Health.
