CHICAGO -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Mac Strategies Group, a fifteen-time award winning public affairs and public relations firm with offices in Chicago and Springfield, is pleased to announce the addition of Matt Butterfield as Vice President of Public and Media Relations. The addition of Butterfield follows the January announcement of Mayor Rahm Emanuel's former political strategist Tom Bowen as Senior Advisor to the firm; Mac Strategies Group is quickly becoming one of Chicago’s top public affairs firms.
Butterfield previously spent fifteen years managing the news assignment desk at Fox Chicago. He was the recipient of journalism’s prestigious Peabody Award in 2010 for his work at Fox and has been awarded two regional Emmy awards for comprehensive coverage of major news events. Most recently, Butterfield served as Communications Director for Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford demonstrating success building a highly recognizable brand for an often overlooked constitutional office.
“We see great opportunity for growth in our agency with Matt now on board. His knowledge of strategic, successful media campaigns will play an important role in meeting the objectives of our clients,” said Ryan McLaughlin, President of Mac Strategies Group. “He will develop messaging plans and strategies to gain exposure and media coverage for our clients. Matt has spent many years building relationships and trust with Illinois’ various media outlets – his familiarity and expertise of the news process will prove to be extremely beneficial for those we serve.”
“It’s exciting for me to see the number of clients adding value to their organizations because of their relationship with the Mac Strategies Group,” said Butterfield. “My passion is uncovering stories that are interesting to tell and then finding an audience who will pay attention. My plan is to listen carefully to the strategic goals of clients, determine what is thought provoking about their story, help shape their message and execute effective media campaigns.”
Mac Strategies Group was founded in 2008 by veteran political and communications operative Ryan McLaughlin and has emerged as one of the most successful Chicago-based firms in executing public relations and public affairs campaigns for clients at the state and federal levels.
