NAPLES, FL--(Marketwired - September 18, 2013) - Vascular Pathways, Inc. of Naples, FL, developers of the AccuCath™ IV Catheter System, is proud to announce the formation of its Clinical Advisory Board. Since the primary focus of Vascular Pathways is listening to customer challenges in vascular access, this forum will enable delivery of real time solutions to address patient needs with the highest priorities. The group consists of leading physicians and nurses specializing in vascular access, interventional radiology, pediatrics, and emergency medicine.
"These respected clinicians have contributed to the current revolution taking place in vascular access and we are proud to have them as part of our Team," said Bill Bold, Vascular Pathways Executive Vice President. "Along with supporting our current device, they will help Vascular Pathways develop future products where the patient need currently exists but the proper vascular access devices are sorely lacking."
Many improvements in PIV devices have been made over the past decade, but the focus has remained primarily on protecting healthcare workers from such things as needle-stick injuries and exposure to blood. No significant improvements have been designed to improve actual PIV outcomes or the patient's vascular access experience. In response to this, Vascular Pathways developed the patient-centric AccuCath™ Intravenous Catheter System, which delivers a peripheral IV over an atraumatic coiled nitinol guide wire.
"Early clinical use is beginning to demonstrate positive impacts on improving PIV outcomes, as Vascular Pathways is currently completing the first round of clinical studies with significant optimism. The Clinical Advisory Board will assist Vascular Pathways in delivering this valuable message, supported by these findings, in order to help deliver the greatest impact in patient care," stated Jona Caparas, MSN, RN, CRNI, VA-BC, IV/PICC Team Coordinator at New York Hospital and President of the Association for Vascular Access New York Metro Network (AVA).
Developed by Vascular Pathways' founder, Amir Belson M.D., AccuCath™ is being commercialized by the same team that made StatLock™ catheter securement devices the industry standard.
