TAMPA, Fla. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Karbon Arms, a leader in Electronic Immobilization Device (EID) technology, today announced that it has temporarily suspended its sales efforts in the state of New Jersey. Robert Gruder, Karbon Arms’ CEO stated: “Karbon has been working with the State to satisfy their requirements, and I believe we only have one issue to resolve prior to submitting for approval.”
The Karbon EID strategically positions its laser and flashlight on top of the unit. Because New Jersey law enforcement training protocol is the first to require officers transitioning to lethal force to grab an EID by placing their weak hand over the top of the EID and take it from the officer’s dominant hand, an officer must place their hand over Karbon’s laser and LED and could possibly be subjected to a slight shock from direct contact with the laser and flashlight while the unit is cycling. Karbon has already developed and will be releasing the new top of the unit in the 4th quarter.
Robert Gruder continued: "We have not encountered a training protocol like this in the past from the many other departments Karbon has sold to worldwide. However, Karbon prides itself on being able to adapt to the unique needs of its customers and we appreciate the State of New Jersey bringing their requests directly to us. Karbon is eager to continue its relationship with New Jersey, and looks forward to providing additional units to customers statewide. Due to the innovative, modular design of the MPID, replacement parts can be easily swapped out, keeping downtime to a minimum. No other EID company offers such an innovative feature. Karbon Arms has been in the Law Enforcement and Corrections field for many years, developing new and innovative products to enhance officer safety and facilitate safe solutions to tense situations. All feedback from end users is evaluated and acted upon, this was an issue that was brought to our attention and is being addressed."
Karbon Arms also recently released an entirely new cartridge design aimed at increasing accuracy and reliability. Robert Gruder added: “Based on recent testing performed by Karbon we believe all cartridge issues have been resolved and are excited to demonstrate our newly advanced product offering to agencies worldwide.”
