About Bare Root and the Nurses' Float
In 2007 five registered nurses in California formed a non-profit organization, "Bare Root, Inc." to raise money and build a float to honor nursing professionals worldwide for their contributions to their patients and the health of their communities. When they started they felt that raising enough money to build a float was almost insurmountable. In the end they were able to raise over $400,000.00 and are now endowing the Nurses' Float Scholarship Fund.
