FAIRFAX, Va. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) opened nominations today for its 2014 Excellence.Gov Awards Program. The Program honors exceptional government programs and projects that use innovative technology to improve services to citizens, enhance government operations, and provide a more open and transparent government. Nominations will be accepted through 5:00 p.m. ET on November 27, 2013.
“ACT-IAC is pleased to be highlighting the exceptional contributions that government employees make,” said ACT-IAC Executive Director Kenneth Allen. “Since its inception, the Excellence.Gov awards have recognized more than 300 government programs and the people who manage them. It’s a pleasure to continue that tradition and, once again, salute the achievements of the government work force.”
Any operational government program (federal, state, or local) that uses technology is eligible for the Excellence.Gov awards. A panel of judges selected from senior government and industry IT executives will review the nominations and select winners in the following categories:
The judges will also select a Best Overall Award for Innovation in Advancing the Business of Government. All submitted programs for each category are eligible for this overarching excellence honor. The Best Overall Award celebrates “leap-ahead” technologies, strategies or processes that demonstrate how it is possible to achieve groundbreaking results on government programs.
An awards reception to honor the winners is scheduled for March 24, 2014, at the Arena Stage Theater in Washington, D.C. In addition, all finalists and winners will be invited to exhibit at the 2014 Management of Change Conference, being held May 18th – May 20th, at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay, in Cambridge, MD.
