CLEARWATER, Fla. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Cynthia Davis, RN, FACHE, co-founder and principal of CIC Advisory, a clinician-led healthcare informatics consulting firm, will be one of the featured speakers at the 2013 Annual Healthcare IT Symposium sponsored by the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Ms. Davis’ presentation, “Paddling Upstream: From Data Collection to Better Patient Care,” will be offered on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The theme of this year’s symposium is “Strategies for Leveraging IT Cost Effectiveness and Efficiencies to Satisfy Affordable Care Act Directives.” Notes Ms. Davis, “Over the past decade, healthcare systems across the country have taken great strides toward implementing a broad range of information technology tools and systems. Now it’s time to move beyond data gathering and realize the full promise of HIT: better and safer patient care, and improved efficiencies.”
Ms. Davis founded CIC Advisory with Marcy Stoots, MS, RN-BC, to help hospitals use technology to provide more effective, efficient and safer patient care. Both women are former critical care nurses with decades of experience leading fast-track clinical employee health records (EHR) projects. Together with a strong team of business consulting, financial and information technology professionals, CIC Advisory delivers solutions that result in high rates of physician and clinician satisfaction and adoption, coordinated care processes and improved clinical outcomes.
Ms. Davis began her medical career as a nurse, working for nearly a decade in intensive care, emergency department and home health care settings. Since then, she has led numerous successful implementation, optimization and customer support efforts for multimillion-dollar fast-track clinical transformation EHR projects in single and multi-facility organizations. A Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Ms. Davis has also served as a chief information officer (CIO) for single and multi-facility health systems and has been profiled in healthcare-industry publications such as HIMSS Clinical Informatics Insights. She is co-author of the book A Guide to EMR Adoption: Implementation Through Organizational Transformation, published by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). In May 2013, Ms. Davis was named “Entrepreneur Woman of the Year” by the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce Women’s Leadership Council.
