Expanded Interoperability With Android™, iOS and New Windows® Platforms Provides Public Safety Agencies With Significant Increase in Device Choice
BROOMFIELD, Colo. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Brother Mobile Solutions, Inc. (BMS) a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brother International Corporation and premier provider of mobile and desktop thermal printing products, will exhibit its industry-leading PocketJet® and RuggedJet™ wireless-enabled mobile printers at the IACP Conference in Philadelphia this month. Both models are now available in configurations compatible with new handheld device operating systems including Android™, iOS and new Windows ®platforms – all increasingly used in the public safety sector.
For public safety agencies, these enhancements are a major step forward in resolving issues caused by operating system (OS) incompatibility. They also offer agencies greater flexibility in selecting devices for the various functions officers perform, whether they are using laptops, tablets, smartphones or other handheld devices out in the field.
“In terms of IT, operating system compatibility has become a major challenge,” said David Crist, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Brother Mobile Solutions, Inc. “Our decision to expand support from legacy Windows alone to iOS, Android and new Windows platforms reflects our commitment to serve the specialized needs of the public safety community. We strive to serve this market with mobile printers that meet the evolving and very specific power-supply, footprint and interoperability requirements of law enforcement agencies.”
“The ability to integrate mobile printers with all major operating systems helps to protect IT investments over time,” Crist continued. “This future-proofing is of paramount importance, especially today, with agency and department budgets continuing to be constrained.”
