MARTINSVILLE, Va. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- GENEDGE ALLIANCE, in cooperation with the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission (TICRC), has developed a funded program to assist manufacturers in the City of Martinsville, Henry County, and Patrick County. Grant funds of $100K from ARC and $50K from TICRC are matched with $22K from GENEDGE sources to provide a total of $172K to pay for E3 services. GENEDGE will be able to provide E3 technical assessments and assistance to help manufacturers establish sustainable strategies to reduce energy consumption, improve production efficiencies, and reduce their overall environmental impact. The grant is to be administered with service delivery through GENEDGE ALLIANCE. Eligible manufacturers interested in scheduling a grant-funded E3 Assessment should contact Joan Moore of GENEDGE.
Congressman Morgan Griffith commented, "I want to congratulate GENEDGE ALLIANCE, the Appalachian Regional Commission, and the Virginia Tobacco Commission on their announcement of $172,000 in grant funds that will be used to help manufacturers in Martinsville, Henry County, and Patrick County. These funds are dedicated to improving area manufacturers, which will benefit not only the businesses and their employees, but also the local economies overall. The revival of robust manufacturing and the jobs that come with it are key for our economy. I want to thank all of those involved in securing these grants."
“For the greater Martinsville region, GENEDGE is very pleased to make available a proven method to assist manufacturers on their journey toward E3 sustainability. Similar to efforts well underway in Southwest VA and the Danville-Pittsylvania County area, this program will provide expert assistance to improve manufacturing competitiveness in the service region,” stated Bill Donohue, Interim Executive Director.
The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) provided funding for this project as part of its efforts to support business development in a way that also helps to preserve the environment.
