SAN DIEGO -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Santarus, Inc. (NASDAQ:SNTS) today announced that data from its Phase I clinical study with its investigational drug SAN-300, a novel antibody that inhibits very late antigen-1 (VLA-1; α1β1 integrin), will be featured in a poster presentation at the 2013 American College of Rheumatology. Based on the Phase I study results, Santarus is preparing to initiate a multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled, multiple ascending dose, Phase IIa clinical study with subcutaneous administration of SAN-300 in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The company expects to initiate the Phase IIa study in the fourth quarter of 2013.
