NEW YORK -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Digital Reasoning, the company that enables automated understanding of human communication, announced that its Chief Technology Officer, Matthew Russell, will be presenting today at O’Reilly’s Strata Conference + Hadoop World in New York City. Russell’s workshop entitled “Mining Social Web APIs with IPython Notebook” discusses how to minimize barriers to exploring valuable data from various social media web properties like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+.
Digital Reasoning is also an exhibitor at the Strata Conference + Hadoop World, taking place between October 28-30, where it will demonstrate its machine learning platform Synthesys® at booth #41. Synthesys enables government agencies and financial institutions to analyze complex data at scale to detect anomalies and uncover suspicious activity in real-time.
As organizations seek to uncover continually evolving suspicious behaviors, criminal relationships and fraudulent activities, there is a growing emphasis on collecting and analyzing human communications such as email, voice, instant messaging and social media. This task can be challenging, as many of the first generation surveillance technologies have difficulty understanding human generated data.
According to a recent Game Changer report published by the Federal Computer Week (FCW) magazine on the topic of Holistic Analytics, “Gleaning the most value from large, disparate sets of information, both structured and unstructured, requires a newer approach to analytics based on machine-learning algorithms.” This approach is invaluable in helping organizations not only discover patterns, but make more accurate predictions over time as it learns from data.
“Today, many sectors share a common set of analytical challenges that could be addressed by feeding existing tools and workflows with high-quality information,” said Marten den Haring, senior vice president of products at Digital Reasoning. “By reading through millions of documents at blazing fast speeds and synthesizing information in context, our software can accurately distinguish the signal from the noise and help generate an holistic view of people and organizations in time and place.”
Synthesys is designed to take advantage of distributed computation technologies, such as Apache Hadoop and Storm, and provides distributed data storage and retrieval on multiple technologies, such as Cassandra, HBase, or Accumulo.
