COLUMBIA, S.C. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The SC Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and SC.gov are proud to announce several new additions to the DNR Online Customer Service Portal. The DNR Online Customer Service Portal allows users to purchase their hunting and fishing licenses online and apply for lottery hunts directly at https://dnrlicensing.sc.gov/DNRLicensingSales/SalesCategories.aspx.
There are nearly 135,000 online transactions for licenses and permits each year and nearly 515,000 Point-of-Sale transactions processed at locations throughout the state. DNR handles nearly 1.4 million license, permit and registration transactions at their office locations each year. All of these transactions will now be processed through the new portal and SC.gov’s secure payment system. The enhanced customer service portal, found at https://dnrlicensing.sc.gov/DNRLicensingSales/SalesCategories.aspx is part of DNR’s effort to offer new and improved ways to purchase required licenses, permits and registrations.
The application is designed responsively which means the application view conforms to any device – desktop, laptop and mobile devices. The mobile version of the system optimizes touch-screen technology and smart phone interfaces by providing larger text, buttons designed for touch response and layouts for smaller screens.
“With more and more of our hunters and anglers adopting new technologies like smartphones and tablets, it only made sense to give them a system that is convenient, easy-to-use, and fits their outdoor lifestyle,” said Don Winslow, Deputy Director of Outreach and Support Services with the SC Department of Natural Resources. “This is part of DNR’s continued efforts to transform how we can serve our customers more efficiently and effectively, by providing our state’s hunters and anglers with additional features and functionality through the convenient and secure DNR Online Customer Service Portal.”
The DNR Online Customer Service Portal provides the following benefits and new functionality:
In addition to the benefit to the public, the DNR Online Customer Service Portal will add efficiencies such as time and cost savings to the DNR office as many manual tasks have now been automated. Employees will be able to focus on other important tasks so that they may serve South Carolina’s citizens more effectively.
Because not all hunters and anglers choose to use smartphones or computers, they also have the option of calling toll-free (1-866-714-3611) and speaking with a live person for assistance or visiting one of the many authorized license vendor locations.
The new DNR Online Customer Service Portal replaces the DNR Recreational Licensing System added in 2006. The DNR Online Customer Service Portal was built at no cost to taxpayers through a partnership between the SC Department of Natural Resources and South Carolina Interactive. The DNR Online Customer Service Portal is maintained by the SC.gov portal team, a self-funded public-private partnership between the State of South Carolina and South Carolina Interactive.
