WALTHAM, Mass. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Q Factor, the software-only solution that dramatically improves delivery of rich media to any device on any network, today announced the appointment of Eric Bomarsi as the company’s Vice President of Engineering. In this role, Bomarsi is responsible for all aspects of product development and quality assurance, spearheading the continued development of Q Factor’s proprietary dynamic packet recovery technology, DPR™.
Bomarsi brings more than 20 years experience developing enterprise and carrier grade networking systems. Prior to joining Q Factor, he ran the Systems Engineering team at Taqua where he helped develop next generation, multivendor WiFi and LTE solutions for mobile operators. He joined Taqua through its acquisition of Tatara Systems in 2011 where he served as Vice President of Engineering, and led the successful development and deployment of the company’s mobile core switching elements used to support 3G small cells and VoIP smartphones.
“Eric joins Q Factor at a critical time in the company’s growth,” said Subhash Roy, CEO of Q Factor. “As the delivery model for media-rich content increasingly turns to mobile and wireless devices, the need to ensure an uninterrupted, quality user experience is more critical than ever before. With his vast development experience, Eric is a natural fit with our team to help accelerate capabilities of Q Factor’s DPR software, and we’re thrilled to have him on board.”
Prior to Tatara, Bomarsi held senior development and management positions at Nauticus Networks (acquired by Sun) and Xedia (acquired by Lucent) where he specialized in IP security and routing solutions. Additionally, Bomarsi developed high speed LAN switching and network management products at Chipcom (acquired by 3Com), and DEC.
“Q Factor has an exceptionally strong team and the company is solving one of the most pressing issues in the market—eliminating packet loss to improve the viewing experience on wireless devices,” said Bomarsi. “I’m excited to join Q Factor and look forward to helping the company build on its momentum to offer content providers, device manufacturers, and network service providers the tools they need to deliver a better experience for their customers.”
About Q Factor
Q Factor radically improves user experiences over today’s increasingly congested wireless networks by streamlining the distribution of content. As the world becomes more unwired, users still expect their browsing or viewing experiences on any device, in any location, to be consistent, uninterrupted and high quality. For this to happen, a lot of complex data needs to make its way through the air to each device. Pieces of that data, or packets, often get lost or delayed, degrading quality and frustrating users. Q Factor’s powerful technology fixes that problem and ensures users get what they want, when then want it, with no interruptions. Founded by a team of proven entrepreneurs, Q Factor is committed to changing the wireless world. The company is headquartered in Waltham, Mass. and has received venture capital funding from Sigma Prime Ventures and Venrock. For more information, please visit www.qfactor.com.
