DULLES, Va. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Cabling Icon announced today the 4 installers/technicians to compete in the semi-final round of the contest. The low voltage cabling industry has been on the edge of their seats as installers and technicians compete for the title of Season 3 Cabling Icon. The techs have been put to the test in 2 rounds of the contest, and the four with the highest scores from the panel of low voltage cabling industry judges have been selected to compete in the semi-finals.
The semi-finals are all about technique—contestants must drop a cable down a wall in 2-minutes or less in a task designed by the Cabling Icon judges to showcase safety, professionalism, technique, speed and accuracy. Like past Round 3 videos, those in Season 3 have proven to be not only entertaining, they have provided a demonstration of industry practices and technique that up-and-coming installers/technicians could use for training.
The four installers/technicians in the semi-final round of the Cabling Icon contest are the best of the best and have already excelled through 2 contest rounds. In Round 1, contestants showed the low voltage cabling industry what they think makes them a Cabling Icon—experience, professionalism, speed, accuracy, skill, etc. In Round 2, the installers/technicians proved they have the speed and accuracy to complete the UTP Termination Speed Trial. After each round, the panel of expert industry judges score the contestants’ 2-minute videos and those with the highest scores move on to the next round.
“We designed Round 3 with the purpose of challenging the most talented low voltage cabling installers and technicians,” said Dennis Mazaris, RCDD, RTPM, President of Concert Technologies and creator of Cabling Icon. “All of the semi-finalists are skilled professionals and bring a lot to the low voltage cabling industry. It’s going to be difficult to choose just one to be named the Season 3 Cabling Icon.”
3 of the 4 semi-finalists will take home a cash prize:
The Season 3 Cabling Icon will be announced December 20, 2013.
