First announced in October of 2013, OCTBTS 3000 modules and software began shipping in January 2014 to lead clients, who are now integrating the platform into their own base stations and network analyzers.
As smartphones and tablets proliferate into all geographic areas and vertical markets, operators require small form factor base stations that still offer the range and mobility features of macro cells. The OCTBTS 3000 is a full-featured SDR base station on a 70 mm by 75 mm module -- a footprint about the size of a credit card -- that includes all network interface, packet processing, baseband processing, and RF functions. Designed in collaboration with existing Octasic clients, the OCTBTS 3000 is ideal for leading and specialty vendors targeting applications such as outdoor small cells, rural networks, emergency response networks, private cellular networks, and other specialized base stations.
