WEST JORDAN, Utah -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- TruHearing, which provides exclusive savings on hearing aids for members of select health plans, recognized VSP® Vision Care, the nation’s largest not-for-profit vision benefits company, as one of its fastest growing partnerships in 2013. As a result of TruHearing offering hearing aids through VSP plans, VSP members saved millions of dollars in the last 12 months, according to research on national prices averages by ResearchNow.
The research determined the average retail selling price of TruHearing’s product offerings of more than 90 different models from five different manufacturers, including Phonak, ReSound, Rexton, Starkey and Unitron. TruHearing customers saved an average of $1,780 per pair compared to the national retail average.
VSP has offered its members access to TruHearing for two years and has seen an increase in response from its clients and members.
“This program makes hearing aids affordable to our 64 million members. Our clients appreciate that we offer it, and our members love the savings,” said Melody Healy, Chief Strategy and Integration Officer for VSP Vision Care. “We know that hearing aids are expensive and not typically covered by insurance, so we are proud to provide our members with access to this great value-add.”
“We greatly value our partnership with VSP,” said Tommy Macdonald, CEO of TruHearing. “VSP members purchasing hearing aids through TruHearing more than doubled in 2013 compared to 2012. And we foresee continued growth with them as their membership base becomes more aware of the TruHearing program.
“Hearing loss impacts nearly 38 million Americans,” Macdonald continued. “At TruHearing, we are committed to continually lowering the cost of a customer-friendly hearing aid experience. It’s rewarding to partner with VSP and make a substantial impact in the lives of so many people with hearing loss.”
