SAN FRANCISCO -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Zoosk, a leading technology-driven online dating company, today announced that Aida Álvarez, former administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, has joined Zoosk’s Board of Directors. In her new role, Álvarez will provide strategic counsel for Zoosk’s business model and advise on the continued development of Zoosk’s online and mobile dating platforms.

With more than 20 years of experience in corporate finance strategy, Álvarez was appointed by President Bill Clinton to serve as Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration from 1997-2001, where she was the first Hispanic woman to serve as an executive officer in the U.S. Previously, Álvarez served as founding director of the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight, where she was responsible for leading financial oversight of the agency. Currently, Álvarez sits on the Board of Directors for Wal-Mart, Union Bank and Progress Financial Corporation.
