Teladoc provides an affordable alternative to visiting the emergency room when doctors are unavailable, such as when the doctor’s office is closed, and is not a replacement for their primary care physician. Through Teladoc, patients are able to speak with board-certified, state-licensed physicians either through the phone or online video for $40 or less. These patients may receive treatment for non-emergency medical issues, such as allergies, bronchitis, pink eye, sinus problems and ear infections. Physicians may also write short-term prescriptions for non-controlled substances if medically appropriate.
Founded in 2002, Teladoc is committed to expanding access to health care and is the nation’s first and largest provider of telehealth services with 7.5 million members and more than 200,000 consults annually. Teladoc provides 24/7 access to affordable, high-quality medical care for adults and children experiencing non-emergency medical issues via phone, secure online video, mobile app or HealthSpot™ Station – a private, walk-in kiosk. Through a directly-managed network of U.S.-based, board-certified physicians, Teladoc delivers a 95 percent patient satisfaction rate with an average response time of 16 minutes. Teladoc is the first and only telehealth provider to receive certification from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for its physician credentialing process, scoring 100 percent. Recognized by Fast Company as “One of World’s Most Innovative Companies in Health Care” in 2013, Teladoc partners with health plans, corporations, organizations and patients that seek accessible and affordable high-quality medical care.
