ACTON, Mass. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Affirmed Networks, the leader in the virtualization of mobile networks, today announced a collaboration with VMware to enable the rapid deployment of its Mobile Content Cloud™ solution for Network Functions Virtualization (NFV).
Affirmed Networks will use VMware vSphere® and VMware vCloud® management framework for automated provisioning and distribution of its virtualized packet and control plane processing in a software-defined data center.
Affirmed Networks’ next-generation core network features, using VMware’s capacity management capabilities, will empower mobile operators to lower capital and operational expenditures, with greater efficiency for deploying revenue-generation services and applications.
“Virtualization of the mobile network has arrived. The true potential of NFV will finally be realized as Affirmed Networks’ products, using VMware solutions, deliver powerful and stable virtualized mobile networks,” said Hassan Ahmed, Chairman and CEO of Affirmed Networks. “We are pleased to enable this revolutionary shift as operators move toward virtualization and cloud infrastructure.”
This next-generation NFV and cloud-based approach fuses Affirmed Networks’ virtualized network functions technology with VMware’s proven vSphere and vCloud infrastructure deployed on standard hardware that can easily handle rapidly expanding data traffic with carrier-grade reliability and a single point of management.
Underscoring this collaboration, Affirmed Networks has signed a global OEM agreement with VMware, enabling the company to offer a channel for operators to procure VMware’s industry-leading virtualization and cloud platform.
“VMware’s disruption of traditional networking models with its virtualization and cloud solutions is poised to be the fundamental underpinning of next-generation mobile networks,” continued Hassan Ahmed, Chairman and CEO of Affirmed Networks. “Companies like VMware and Affirmed Networks thrive when pursuing technological disruption and this collaboration will produce industry leading solutions for mobile operators.”
“VMware is pleased to collaborate with Affirmed Networks to bring cloud technology to mobile operators,” stated Sanjay Katyal, Vice President, Global Strategic Alliances, VMware. “With the use of vSphere 5.5 and the Mobile Content Cloud solution, we can empower mobile operators to lower capital and operational expenditures, while driving greater agility.”
