HOUSTON & LAS VEGAS -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Alpheus Communications today announced the signing of a network-to-network interface (NNI) agreement with United Network Services, Inc. (UNSi), giving the leading provider of next-generation voice and data services expanded coverage in Texas via Alpheus’ high-quality fiber network.
Alpheus owns and operates one of the most extensive fiber networks in Texas. With its dense metro fiber reach, Alpheus has broad Ethernet service availability, reaching 129,000 Ethernet-qualified locations. UNSi chose Alpheus to serve a more diverse customer base throughout Texas with fiber and traditional telecom services. The NNI agreement helps UNSi provide Ethernet services to targeted customers including large enterprises that operate multiple sites across the country.
“When evaluating possible NNI partners in Texas, UNSi placed a premium on the network provider’s ability to extend our reach with a reliable network, delivering flexible and high-quality services, and Alpheus excels in all these areas with a stellar operational reputation,” said Stephen John, SVP and Chief Revenue Officer for UNSi. “The combination of our capabilities and Alpheus’ deep Texas footprint lets us expand our managed services to meet the needs of our current and future customers, especially multi-site businesses adding office locations and employees in Texas’ favorable business climate.”
Texas’ economic engine remains powerful – according to recent U.S. Census Bureau data, eight of the nation’s 15 fastest-growing cities are in Texas; no other state had more than one city in the top 15 list. This growth fuels the state’s economic success and creates significant business opportunities as Texas continues to expand, and companies relocate to the state, adding to the already high demand for communications and networking services.
The NNI agreement between Alpheus and UNSi illustrates the growing trend of enterprises with multiple locations to utilize a MPLS and Ethernet network for mission-critical applications, especially for hosted and cloud-based solutions.
“We are pleased to partner with UNSi and connect them to our high-quality fiber network as well as our numerous data centers and central offices that will help UNSi quickly expand in Texas,” said Alpheus senior vice president of carrier sales Chip Robertson. “In addition to having one of the most extensive fiber networks in Texas, our data centers offer UNSi the ideal platform from which to deliver a wider variety of voice and data services to multi-site enterprises that either have operations in Texas or are looking to build business here.”
