SAIC Team Awarded $836 Million Task Order To Support The U.S. Army In Huntsville

MCLEAN, Va., March 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) awarded Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAIC) a follow-on task order to provide professional and engineering support services to the Army Aviation & Missile Research Development & Engineering Center Software Engineering Directorate (SED). This single award task order has a three-year period of performance, and a total contract value of more than $836 million. The task order was awarded under the AMCOM Expedited Professional & Engineering Support Services (EXPRESS) contract vehicle that provides for systems and computer resources support. Work will be performed primarily at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala.

AMCOM provides and sustains world-class aviation and missile systems to the joint warfighter, supporting national security and defense strategies today and in the future. Under this task order, SAIC will perform lifecycle systems and software engineering support to ensure that the Army receives the latest technology and equipment needed for mission success.

SAIC will lead a team of 285 subcontractors, of which 230 are small businesses, primarily based in Huntsville. These businesses have core competencies that include systems engineering and integration, software development, testing and life cycle support, avionics architecture, embedded diagnostics, gaming software, mission command software and aviation and missile systems domain expertise. Approximately 2,000 full-time professionals will continue to support this task order with small businesses responsible for more than 40 percent of the work performed during the course of the task order.
