WASHINGTON -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- For the second year, FOSE, the largest, most comprehensive event serving the government technology community, is offering government personnel free admission to more than 40 educational sessions, led by top subject-matter experts, that showcase proven tools and strategies designed to help government work smarter, maintain security and better implement technology. Government attendees also have free access to the event’s keynotes and training in the exhibit hall. FOSE 2014 will take place May 13-15 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

“This year’s conference program continues the FOSE tradition of bringing together the best and brightest technology experts to share what they know so implementation of technology at all levels of government can be as effective as possible,” said David Myers, event director, Government Events at 1105 Media. “Making FOSE free continues to be our priority to ensure that these dedicated government workers remain on the cutting-edge of technology.”

FOSE 2014’s educational conferences concentrate in the following seven tracks:

  • Cloud & Virtualization – This track will focus on the benefits, implementation details and risks of migrating to the cloud, and share what early adopters have to say about their transition to the cloud.
  • Cybersecurity – As technology continues to advance, so do the types of attacks. In this track, attendees will learn how to mitigate risk and develop preemptive measures to protect the agency or organizations from vulnerabilities.
  • Cybercrime & Cyberterrorism – During this track, attendees will learn how to address the growing national threat from cybercrime with new approaches and increased vigilance.
  • Mobile Government – This track will focus on the tools, strategies and insights into hot issues such as bring your own device (BYOD), security, APIs and mobilizing enterprise systems.
  • Big Data & Business Intelligence – By attending this session, participants will gain a better understanding of how agencies are harnessing big data to extract intelligence and improve stakeholder engagement.
  • Records and Information Management (RIM) – Since current laws and policies on RIM are proving inadequate for today’s always-on Internet world, this track will provide an overview of benchmarks, standards and policies to digital preservation and the future of records retention.
  • Project Management – In partnership with the Project Management Institute (PMI), this track will assist attendees in improving efficiencies, managing risk and becoming more agile in development to enhance their project management skills.
  • Acquisition and Procurement – This new track provides a variety of cutting-edge topics for federal government and industry contracting professionals, which will highlight the tools and best practices that can improve your acquisition outcomes.

Attendees also can benefit from the free FOSE Expo, which brings together hundreds of vendors – from local suppliers to Fortune 500 companies that are among the most-trusted technology suppliers servicing government and private industry.

Free Clinics at FOSE will give attendees actionable information to do everything from getting and keeping a top security clearance to how to best leverage SEWP.

Keynote addresses at FOSE this year offer attendees insight from leading figures in law enforcement, national security and government technology.

  • “Boston Marathon Bombing: A Collaborative Approach to Catch a Terrorist” – This new keynote panel format will feature a discussion with Richard DesLauriers, former Special Agent in Charge (SAC), Boston Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Colonel Timothy P. Alben, Superintendent, Massachusetts State Police; and Edward F. Davis, former Police Commissioner for the City of Boston Police Department; and will be moderated by Brian McGrory, editor of The Boston Globe.
  • Thomas Donilon, former National Security Advisor to President Barack Obama – "America's Foreign, Defense & Cyber Policy: An Insider's Perspective”
  • Women Leaders in Technology: Opportunities and Top Issues from IT Leaders – This keynote will offer insight from some of the leading women in technology leadership positions including Anne Altman, general manager, US Federal and Government Industries, IBM Corporation; Teresa Carlson, vice president of Worldwide Public Sector for Amazon Web Services; Barbara Rivera, president and general manager of Public-Sector Business, Experia.
