HUDSON, Ohio -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced today the expansion of the Patient Education content within Lexicomp® Online™, its hospital-wide referential drug information solution, and Lexicomp Integrated, its embedded solution for healthcare applications. This includes the launch of approximately 140 patient education leaflets on natural products and a 50% increase in the collection of leaflets covering lab tests and diagnostic procedures.
With more and more consumers taking natural supplements, it is important that their clinicians provide them with educational materials detailing proper use and precautions associated with these products. The recently added Natural Products leaflets cover such products as Ginkgo, Echinacea and St. John’s Wort. The materials provide patients with information on why and how the product is used, precautions and the warning signs of adverse reactions, and links to further information if a reputable resource is available.
The 50% increase in number of lab test leaflets will allow healthcare professionals to educate and better communicate with patients regarding many important diagnostic procedures. The new leaflets include:
“Clinicians trust Lexicomp Patient Education to foster communication with patients and help encourage better compliance with therapies and treatments. We are dedicated to delivering the tools they want and need, and that’s why we added natural products and additional lab tests to our vast library of patient education resources,” stated Steven Kerscher, Vice President & General Manager, Clinical Drug Information, Wolters Kluwer Health, Clinical Solutions. "After all, an educated patient is a safer patient.”
