MCLEAN, Va. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Environmental analyst Dr. Terry Thompson has joined LMI and will lead the organization’s efforts to help aviation stakeholders understand the changing aviation landscape and how to mitigate and adapt to emerging environmental impacts.
Thompson is former Vice President, Energy and Environment, at Metron Aviation (a subsidiary of Airbus), where he led analysis of the environmental impacts of air transport, including climate, air quality, and noise. He served as principal investigator for many NASA and FAA environmental studies and tool-development efforts over the past 20 years, and served as the project lead on an ongoing study for the Environmentally Responsible Aviation project for NASA.
“We’re excited by the additional depth of expertise and experience in aviation environmental analysis that Terry brings to the LMI team,” said Shahab Hasan, LMI Operations & Cost Analysis Program Director. “This strengthens and complements our suite of aeronautical systems analysis capabilities which includes performance modeling, technology assessment, safety risk analysis, and economic analysis.”
“We are thrilled that Terry has chosen to continue his leadership role in the environmental analysis sector by joining LMI, and we believe he greatly strengthens the LMI value and brand as we continue to serve our public sector clients in this area,” LMI Energy and Environment Program Director John Selman said.
At LMI, Thompson will engage with LMI analysts investigating new breakthroughs in biofuels reduced-impact transportation, climate change, and water security. Thompson regularly authors papers on the aviation industry and its environmental concerns and has been asked to speak at various national and international conferences.
Thompson holds a doctorate and masters in biophysics from the University of Rochester Medical School.
