WOBURN, Mass. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- CryoXtract Instruments, LLC, a provider of automated frozen aliquotting systems for high-value frozen biosamples (e.g., biofluids, tissue and stool), will host a presentation at ISBER’s 2014 annual meeting in partnership with France’s National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) and TTP Labtech that examines the utilization of optimized workflows and specialized technology solutions to facilitate the use of valuable legacy and prospective biospecimen collections.
The workshop, titled “Managing the Past for the Future,” will be held on Tuesday, May 20th from 5:15-6:15 p.m. at the Walt Disney Dolphin Hotel in Orlando, Florida. Featured speakers will include Dr. Joel Doré from INRA France, a globally renowned researcher in the area of the human gut microbiome, and Dr. Sarah Burl from TTP Labtech.
Dr. Burl’s presentation will focus on current trends in biobanking; the challenges of working with legacy sample collections; and the driving forces of quality, money and time that are helping to shape industry standards such as the NCI/ISBER guidelines. Dr. Doré will discuss the benefits provided by CryoXtract's frozen aliquotting technology within INRA's fecal biobanking workflow.
“CryoXtract is excited to once again participate at ISBER to discuss such an important industry initiative, “ said Chief Executive Officer John McCarthy. “As the global scientific community continues to make advances in the standardization and harmonization of biorepository management and improvement in sample utilization, CryoXtract looks forward to helping lead proactive initiatives that result in advancing and optimizing important life-science research and development.”
CryoXtract will also have a booth at the ISBER conference, at which its fully automated CXT750 and benchtop CXT350 systems will be displayed. TTP Labtech will have a CXT350 on display at its booth, and Wheaton Industries will be showing a video about using their CryoELITE tissue vial with the CXT350. Both CryoXtract systems utilize the company’s proprietary frozen coring technology, which allows users to effectively access and re-access high-value biosamples, resulting in optimized scientific outcomes. The systems enable efficient and cost-effective processing for all types of frozen biological samples, including stool, which is used for research in the fast-growing field of the human microbiome.
ISBER, the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories, is the largest international forum for professionals and organizations related to the global biobanking community. This year’s annual conference titled, “Fact not Fantasy: Evidence-Based Biobanking” is a key meeting for biorepository operators, scientists, consultants and vendors and will highlight best practices for maintaining sample integrity. CryoXtract, whose CXT750 previously won an ISBER “Outstanding New Product” award, is a sponsor of the conference.
