SAN DIEGO -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA®) announced that Frederick Walls and Alexander MacInnis, of VESA member company Broadcom, will provide an overview of the VESA Display Stream Compression Standard (DSC) at the Display Week ’14 conference today. DSC is a visually lossless, low-complexity, hardware-based compression algorithm for use over display links. The presenters, who were major contributors to this new industry standard, will cover DSC features, performance and use cases.
The presentation is scheduled from 10.40 – 12.00, on Wednesday June 4.
Display Week is the premier worldwide event showcasing advances in electronic display technology. Electronic displays make up a 100 billion dollar industry. The Display Week Exhibition provides a venue where display technology and product providers meet with the engineers, designers, and business development decision makers driving the integration of new display technology into products.
DSC has been adopted into VESA’s embedded DisplayPort (eDP™) v1.4 and into MIPI Display Serial Interface (DSI) Specification v1.2, which are used for embedded display interfaces within mobile systems, including smartphones, tablets and laptops. It is anticipated that the DSC standard will also be used for external display interfaces to computer monitors and televisions.
