NEW YORK, July 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- NCM Online (www.ncmonline.com), a new leader in the publication of unbiased web host testing and analysis has released its proprietary data-based ranking methodology to the public for the first time.
A new article, "Shared Web Host Ranking Methodology," reveals the complete rating system used by NCM Online to produce rankings that limit the reviewer's opinion to 20% of the host's total rating. In addition to explanations of the criteria used to rank hosts, the article includes the tables utilized to convert host data into star ratings.
"There were certainly reservations about making the information public," said NCM Online editor, Patricia Roberts. She continued, "Ultimately it was decided to be in the best interest of the consumer to allow anyone to understand exactly how the system produced the ratings for individual criteria as well as the final ranking."
"While the complete elimination of reviewer bias seems a near-impossible task, we believe that this ranking system comes very close. Ultimately, it is our hope that hosting companies will use this information to improve their services," added NCM Online editor, Anthony Ailed.
Using this methodology, none of the hosting services evaluated has achieved a 5-star total rating. The highest total rating awarded to date is 4.7, while the lowest-ranked host produced a 3.2 total rating. 18 other hosts scored somewhere in between.
To date, NCM Online has purchased, evaluated, and reviewed 20 shared hosting services. Ranking criteria include: pricing, ease of use, disk space, bandwidth, page-load speed, reliability, support, BBB rating, guarantee, and customer satisfaction. Utilizing the third-party services of Dotcom Monitor, ten more hosts are presently being tested for speed and uptime.
In addition to reviews, NCM Online provides site visitors with page-load speed and uptime test result charts, web hosting coupon codes, and host-specific WordPress installation video tutorials
