CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwired) -- 07/07/14 -- OnePoint Patient Care, a leading national hospice pharmacy services provider, announced today that recent enhancements to its industry-leading reporting and data exchange technology applications have succeeded in giving its hospice partners a seamless and immediate way to integrate CR 8358 requirements into their Medicare billing.
"We are always listening to our hospice partners and striving to understand the challenges they face and how we can help surmount them," said Jeffrey Hohl, OnePoint's chief executive officer. "When we learned many hospices industry-wide were having trouble billing Medicare in an efficient way, we closely reviewed the different technologies and options out there and developed a solution that makes this process easier and faster for them. We are gratified to see the benefits these technology tools are providing our hospice partners."
"OnePoint has responded to our every need as we endeavored to comply with the new CMS billing guidelines under CR 8358," said Julia Campbell, chief administrative officer for Arizona-based Community Hospice Group, which operates six hospice programs in Nevada, Colorado, and Arizona. "OnePoint's technology choices, support personnel and attention to detail have ensured our Medicare billing efforts are a success."
Working closely with each of the major electronic medical record (EMR) vendors, OnePoint upgraded its reporting tool to give hospice partners greater flexibility in obtaining the daily CR 8358 data they need and easy ways for hospices to retrieve this data on-demand. These enhancements include:
OnePoint's enhanced CR 8358 reporting tool is customized for most major EMR vendor formats including AllScripts, Cerner, Brighttree, Consolo, Healthcare First, Homecare Home Base, McKesson, MUMMS and Suncoast Solutions, among others, and will be compatible with other system vendor formats, including Aegis and EPIC, in the near future.
In addition, OnePoint enhanced its support for hospice partners in their efforts to secure Medicare Part D plan information for their patients. With its E1 pharmacy query, OnePoint can locate patients' Medicare Part D plan information in the Medicare system and promptly provide it to the hospice, streamlining the process for hospices.
"We have a long history of developing technology applications that help increase nurse effectiveness and patient care while saving hospices time and money," said James Otterbeck, OnePoint's chairman. "Our CR 8358 and Medicare Part D offerings for hospices are more robust and user friendly than any other services out there, and are just another example of our leadership in providing the most innovative pharmacy technology applications to our hospice partners."
