SAN DIEGO -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Cox Communications is partnering with the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County, for the School’s Out, Hunger’s Not food drive to combat hunger this summer in San Diego County.

Nearly 230,000 school children in San Diego County live in low-income households and receive free or reduced-priced meals at school. During the summer months, families are faced with the challenge of providing healthy regular meals for their children who would normally receive breakfast and lunch at school.

Donations of healthy nonperishable food items such as low-sugar cereal, nut butters, vegetables, soup, pasta and canned tuna are needed to help fight hunger this summer.

The public can drop off donations now through July 31, 2014 at all San Diego County Cox Solutions Stores:

  • Chula Vista: 581 Telegraph Canyon Rd., Chula Vista
  • Escondido: 1264-A Auto Parkway, Escondido
  • Hillcrest: 1220 Cleveland Ave., San Diego
  • Oceanside: 461 College Blvd. #101, Oceanside
  • San Diego: 1535 Euclid Avenue, San Diego (92105)
  • Santee: 9349 Mission Gorge Rd.

In 2013, 200,000 pounds of food was collected during the Food Bank’s summer food drive. Other partners of the School’s Out, Hunger’s Not food drive include Vons supermarkets and the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation. For more information, click here.
